A LITTLE HISTORY...
Petit Col de Maurienne (2083 m above sea level) but how much
magnificent and strategic in the past! The road was built by Napoleon in
1802. Linking Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis in France to Susa in Italy, it marked the
border between the two countries until 1947, the date of the Treaty of Paris. It is
now entirely in France.
ATMOSPHERE
With the construction of the hydroelectric dam of the
Mont-Cenis, the site gives way to a magnificent azure lake. Dominated
by majestic peaks, vast alpine pastures and some fortifications such as
as evidenced by the Fort de Ronce, it remains a place of exploration
A must-see and steeped in history in Haute Maurienne Vanoise.
Relive the history of Mont-Cenis within the Pyramid which
houses a museum retracing the entire history of the pass with, among other things, a
permanent exhibition: "Mont-Cenis, thousand-year-old gateway to the Alps".
Next to the Pyramid, take a walk in the Alpine Garden
which is a real reference in terms of the flora of the Alpine arc.
